Scam Baiting Techniques

Primary goal of scam baiters:

  • The primary goal of scambaiting is to distract the scammer and to stop the scammers operation. One goal of scam baiting techniques is just to waste a 419 scammer's time. If the scam artist is talking to a baiter they are not talking with a possible victim. These ways of scam baiting are referred to as "straight baits".
  • Other goals of scam baiting is to carry the pleasure of baiters and their readers. To that end, a general status symbol among scam baiters is the collection or display of a photographic "trophy," a picture apparently taken of the scammer, typically while holding custom made signs, or in odd poses with exact props (such as placing a fish on one's head). Other trophies could include documents such as oaths and the pseudo legal documents, taken as the 419 scam as a step forward towards a hopeless goal.
  • Scam baiters filch nearly $200 million from Americans annually and make some of their victims to suicide. But Nigeria's notorious e-mail scam may lastly have met their match and the results can be hilarious.

Combat between Scammers and Scambaiters:

Many audio recordings could be really found on sites dedicated to scam baiting, documenting the conversations of the baiters with their scammers. More ordinary is the practice of supplying the criminals with premium rate numbers and asking them to call you repeatedly, citing various reasons why the hypothetical victim is unobtainable.

419 scam baiter:
